## 8Bit Network rules and guidelines

Please read these rules carefully and follow them at all times.

### General guidelines

* Staff have the **final say** in all moderation decisions.
* Rules use a **tiered system** based on severity.
* Some rules are **interchangeable** across platforms.
* Punishments may apply **in-game, on Discord, or both**.
* These rules apply to **all in-game features**, including chat, signs, books, items, builds, and events.
* If you are unsure whether something is allowed, **ask staff before doing it**.
* You can appeal punishments on our [Support Server](https://discord.gg/V774SbxJvg). (not currently being used, join the main server)

Failure to read the rules does not exempt you from enforcement. By participating in 8Bit Network, you agree to follow all guidelines listed here.

### Discord rules

#### 🟢 Minor offenses

These usually result in a warning or a short mute.

**Chat and communication**

* Spamming messages, emojis, or excessive caps
* Mild off-topic discussion outside designated channels
* Non-malicious trolling or baiting
* Inappropriate language that is not directed or hateful
* Mini-modding or backseat moderating
* Ignoring channel-specific rules
* Low-effort or repeated messages that disrupt chat flow

#### 🟡 Moderate offenses

These may result in mutes, kicks, or temporary bans.

**Harassment and behavior**

* Harassment, insults, or targeted toxicity
* Repeated minor offenses after warnings
* Posting NSFW, suggestive, or disturbing content
* Advertising or self-promotion without permission
* Impersonating staff or other members
* Arguing with or disrespecting staff decisions
* Encouraging rule-breaking behavior
* Misuse of pings or mass mentions

#### 🔴 Major offenses

These usually result in immediate or permanent bans.

**Severe misconduct**

* Hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory content
* Threats, doxxing, or encouraging harm to others
* Sharing personal or private information
* Extreme harassment or bullying
* Raiding, brigading, or server disruption
* Scams, phishing, or malicious links or files
* Evading punishments with alternate accounts
* Posting illegal content or instructions

### In-game rules

#### 🟢 Tier 1 — Minor offenses

These usually result in a warning, kick, or short mute.

**Chat and communication**

* No spamming, flooding, or repeated messages
* No excessive caps or symbol spam
* No bypassing chat filters
* No advertising servers, services, or communities
* No begging for items, ranks, or staff attention
* Keep chat readable and on-topic

**General gameplay**

* No trolling that disrupts normal gameplay
* No misleading item names meant to confuse players
* No AFK setups that negatively impact server performance
* Use common sense and play fairly

**Staff interaction**

* Follow staff instructions
* Do not argue staff decisions in public chat
* Do not waste staff time with false or joke reports

#### 🟡 Tier 2 — Moderate offenses

These usually result in a temporary mute, temporary ban, item wipe, or a reset.

**Harassment and behavior**

* No harassment, bullying, or targeted toxicity
* No hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language
* No sexually explicit, NSFW, or inappropriate content
* No threats, intimidation, or encouraging harm, even as a joke

**Scamming and trading**

Real-money trading is allowed. Scamming is not.

* No scamming in any form
* No fake or misleading trades
* No item swapping
* No chargeback scams
* No false promises or false deals
* All trades are final unless staff confirm a scam occurred
* You trade at your own risk, but proven scams are punished
* No impersonation to gain trust in trades

**Gameplay abuse**

* No griefing protected, claimed, or permitted builds
* No exploiting mechanics for unfair advantages
* No abusing bugs or glitches
* Report bugs instead of using them
* No teaming in solo modes or restricted modes
* No intentionally ruining events or minigames

**Accounts and identity**

* No impersonating staff or other players
* No account sharing
* No using alt accounts for unfair advantages
* No evading mutes, kicks, or restrictions

**Builds and skins**

* No offensive, hateful, or NSFW builds
* No inappropriate skins, capes, or names
* No symbols or imagery meant to provoke or offend

#### 🔴 Tier 3 — Severe offenses

These usually result in a long-term ban or an immediate permanent ban.

**Cheating and unfair mods**

* No hacked clients, cheats, macros, or scripts
* No X-ray, freecam, or illegal minimaps
* No automation that plays the game for you
* Only approved cosmetic or performance mods are allowed
* Attempting to cheat is punished the same as cheating

**Exploits and server abuse**

* No duping items, currency, or rewards
* No abusing major bugs or exploits
* No attempting to crash, lag, or disrupt the server
* No exploiting punishments, rollbacks, or game systems

**Ban and punishment evasion**

* No ban evasion
* No using alternate accounts to avoid punishment
* No helping others evade punishments

**Real-world harm**

* No doxxing or sharing personal information
* No real-life threats
* No encouraging self-harm or illegal activity
* No distributing malicious software or exploits

### Approved clients and mods

The following clients and mods are allowed as long as they do not provide an unfair advantage.

#### Approved clients

* Vanilla Minecraft
* OptiFine
* Lunar Client
* Badlion Client
* Feather Client
* Fabric or Forge with approved mods only

#### Cosmetic mods

* Cosmetic-only mods, including capes, animations, and visual changes
* Armor, HUD, or GUI customizers
* Emote or animation mods
* Shader packs that only affect visuals

#### Performance and optimization mods

* OptiFine performance features
* Sodium
* Lithium
* Phosphor
* FPS boosters and lag-reduction mods
* Memory or performance optimization mods

#### Utility mods

* Minimap mods without player tracking, entity tracking, or cave mode
* Waypoints with manual placement only
* Coordinate display mods
* Clock, compass, or durability display mods
* Inventory sorting mods
* Item zoom or item preview mods

#### Information mods

* Recipe viewer mods such as JEI, REI, and EMI
* Item tooltip mods
* Status effect timers
* Ping or TPS display mods

#### Disallowed mods and features

* Hacked or cheat clients
* X-ray mods or texture packs
* Freecam
* Kill aura
* Auto-clickers or macros
* Auto-farming or auto-mining mods
* Player, mob, or entity radar
* Cave finders or ore highlight mods
* Combat or inventory automation
* Packet manipulation or exploit mods

Attempting to bypass mod restrictions is punishable. Mods not listed may still be disallowed at staff discretion. Some mods may be blocked in specific game modes, such as Lifesteal. Staff may also require a mod to be disabled or removed at any time.
