# Costs

**Town Costs**\
All towns start with a minimum upkeep of **$500 per day**. This cost helps maintain your town and keep it active within the world.

As your town grows and you use more claim blocks, your daily upkeep will gradually increase. However, this change won’t take effect until you have claimed at least **50 chunks**, giving you plenty of time to establish your town before costs begin to scale.

**Nation Costs**\
Once you’ve created and established a successful town, you can begin exploring nations. At this stage, you have the option to either join an existing nation or create your own. Being part of a nation comes with its own set of advantages and drawbacks, which are important to understand before making a decision. Let’s start by going over the drawbacks.

<table><thead><tr><th width="216">Type</th><th>Amount</th><th>Nation / Town Bank or Player's Balance</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Creating a nation</td><td>$10,000</td><td>Player's Balance</td></tr><tr><td>Upkeep</td><td>$1,000 per town daily</td><td>Nation Bank</td></tr><tr><td>Default Tax (Residents)</td><td>$250</td><td>Town Bank</td></tr><tr><td>Rename Nation</td><td>$5000</td><td>Nation Bank</td></tr><tr><td>Town Upkeep Reduction</td><td>5% reduction</td><td>Town Bank</td></tr></tbody></table>

**Nation Types & Block Bonus**\
Each nation has a name that reflects its current level of growth and development. To increase your nation’s level, you must meet a required number of members. This total is based on all residents across every town within the nation, not just a single town.

As your nation expands and reaches higher levels, you will be rewarded with additional town blocks. These extra claim blocks allow your towns to expand further and claim more land, supporting continued growth and progression across your entire nation.

| Nation Level | Member Requirement | Bonus Town Blocks |
| ----------------------- | ------------------ | ----------------- |
| Land of \<nation> | 0 | 10 |
| Federation of \<nation> | 25 | 20 |
| Dominion of \<nation> | 50 | 30 |
| Kingdom of \<nation> | 75 | 40 |
| The \<nation> Empire | 100 | 50 |
| The \<nation> Realm | 125 | 60 |

We will go over more of the fees and financial responsibilities that come with owning a town or being part of a nation in a later section of this wiki. This will include a more detailed breakdown of upkeep, taxes, and other costs you may encounter as your town or nation grows (or falls into bankruptcy).\
